Behind the stories

Meet the real Mojo & Lulu

Two tiny Chihuahuas. Two unforgettable personalities. The inspiration behind Carrie-Lee’s stories is very real.

The King of the Castle

Some dogs are treated like pets. Mojo has never been one of them! From the moment we brought him home at just eight weeks old, he was our child — and he has been treated like royalty ever since.

With one of us almost always home, Mojo has grown up surrounded by attention, affection, and constant companionship. He has his own blue plaid carriage, enjoys meals served from a fork, and knows precisely when his six o’clock dental bone is due. There is no negotiating with His Royal Highness.

On the rare occasions we head out to dinner or a movie without him, Mojo makes his displeasure perfectly clear when we return. Apparently, leaving the king behind is simply unacceptable! Beneath that royal attitude, though, is the little dog who chose his family and filled our lives with love, laughter, and stories worth telling.

Meet Lulu

Tiny but Mighty

Don't let her tiny size fool you. Lulu is one extraordinary Chihuahua with a remarkable story of survival.

Lulu's life began in heartbreaking circumstances involving animal hoarding, inbreeding, abuse, and neglect. She was born with physical abnormalities, including improperly positioned hips and hind legs that bow outward, as well as other medical challenges. Her difficult beginning is part of her story, but it doesn't define who she is.

Despite her physical limitations, Lulu runs, plays, jumps onto the couch, and keeps up with her much bigger brother, Mojo. While Mojo isn't fond of thunderstorms, brave little Lulu takes them in stride. Today she knows what it means to be loved, protected, and cherished.

Lulu reminds us that every animal deserves kindness and that being different doesn't make anyone less deserving of love. She may be tiny, but her courage is enormous.

The little duo behind the books

At home, Mojo and Lulu are more than storybook characters — they're family. Their friendship, quirks, and everyday adventures are the heart of this growing collection.

Every great story has a beginning. For Mojo’s, it was a very little puppy and the person he chose to love.
